you could have a strawberry citrus margarita, but why not make it into a strawberry citrus margarita float with a scoop of ice cream?
it feels like only yesterday, work was gogogogogo. now, it's so... mellow. i did somehow end up planning an asian pacific american heritage month event for my office, complete with snacks and a boba tasting. we're getting co-workers to submit asian american themed trivia to 1) encourage participation and 2) ensure that the questions are reasonable for the office (ahem, not solely geared to someone asian american and/or in their 20s). if i were in charge of this part, the questions would be something like this japanese american singer/songwriter saw youtube success with one of her earliest songs, "valentine", and covered "can't help falling in love" in crazy rich asians (2018). which maybe a person could guess correctly, but not holding my breath.
other things spicing up my life? joining kate from ¡hola! jalapeño's marg week! you may have heard that i like my alcohol with a little bit of ice cream (ahem, kahlua oreo mcflurries), so how could i not spruce up this strawberry citrus margarita with my old friend Vanilla into a strawberry citrus margarita float? plus a handful of freeze dried strawberries ground up and mixed into the salt for the rim. it's perfect for those almost summer vibes, especially if you can't find great strawberries yet (if they're not sugar sweet yet, you can't tell in this margarita with all the ice cream!).

- 2 ounces tequila
- 3 ½ ounces strawberry puree
- ½ ounces lemon juice
- lemon slices, salt, ice and sliced strawberries for serving
- 1 scoop vanilla ice cream
-
Mix the tequila, strawberry puree and lemon juice.
-
Prep your glass: run a lemon slice around the rim, and dip the wet rim into salt.
-
Add a handful of ice and a lemon slice into the glass, then pour in the margarita. Add a few strawberry slices on top, then gently place a scoop of ice cream. Serve cold.
Want pink salt too? Grab a handful of freeze-dried strawberries (you can find these at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc) and grind them into a powder. Mix with the salt, then use to rim the glass per usual.
